Prime Minister appointed a project group to find solutions to problems concerning indoor air quality in public buildings

Prime Minister Juha Sipilä has appointed a project group to prepare an action plan entitled The decade of healthy indoor environments and a proposal for the organisation of its implementation.
The objective is to promote health and wellbeing as concerns public premises.
The forthcoming action plan is to support sustainable and healthy construction and maintenance practices and prevent indoor air quality problems. The plan will include practical measures with which to address such problems, starting this electoral term. The aim is also to find new, innovative and sustainable approaches which will manifest themselves in structural changes in the sector.
The action plan is to provide more precise information on the measures, timetable and parties responsible for restoring the condition of the public building stock. The efforts will draw on earlier reports, experiences and ongoing work.
A wide range of stakeholders will be consulted during the preparation of the action plan. Progress will be discussed in the Government's strategy session and the action plan will be submitted to Parliament during the autumn session as a Prime Minister’s announcement.
The project group will be chaired by Minister for Housing, Energy and the Environment Kimmo Tiilikainen, with Special Adviser Markus Lahtien from the Prime Minister’s Office as its vice-chair. The project group will be led by Marika Paavilainen, Senior Ministerial Adviser at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The action plan will be drawn in autumn 2017. The project will run until 28 February 2018.
